The news came in on the morning of Tuesday, October 21st: Tonnellerie Leroi has been awarded the “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” (Living Heritage Company) label a distinction that crowns the expertise and commitment of one of the oldest cooperages in Cognac.
The EPV label is an official mark of recognition from the French State, distinguishing French companies for their outstanding artisanal and industrial know-how.
The evaluation process, entrusted by the State to an independent organization, aims to verify on site the legitimacy of each application.
In the case of Tonnellerie Leroi, every criterion was met. Founded in 1735 by the oldest Cognac house, it is one of the region’s most historic cooperages and holds a rare expertise in the crafting of oak barrels for wines and spirits.

By earning this recognition, Tonnellerie Leroi joins the ranks of around 1,400 French companies renowned for their exceptional know-how among them Doreau Tonneliers in Gensac, Manufacture Tonnelière La Grange in Murlin, and Atelier du Foudrier in Barret.
